NCAC Offers Academic Freedom Workshops
The recent debates over the limits of speech and dissent on campus, as well as widespread efforts to introduce legislation creating a so-called "academic bill of rights," have generated an urgent need for on-campus discussions of academic freedom, free speech, and concerns about "bias" and ?balance? in education. NCAC provides assistance for organizing on-campus workshops, which offer insight into attacks on academic freedom, the rationales for free speech, the role of dissent in American history, and the misleading use of rhetoric about diversity and freedom to chill academic discussion and debate. NCAC staff members are available to provide advice about ways to structure discussions of these important issues, as well as to speak at such events.
