NCAC joined with the American Booksellers Foundation For Free Expression and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund in writing a letter of support to the King County Library System for their response to a recent challenge of Hero Heel 2 (Digital Manga Publishing). An uncle of a 10-year-old girl raised objections to the manga book after his niece checked the book out.The book was shelved in the adult section of the library.

The letter applauds the library for having come out strong in favor of the intellectual freedom of its patrons. It also seeks to clarify misconceptions about manga, comic books and graphic novels, which deal with a vast range of human circumstances and are intended for and read by many different demographics, not only by children.
