NCAC defends Books in Trouble through daily work with people on the frontlines in local communities. We advise and work closely with teachers, librarians, authors, parents, organizations, and others; organize local and regional coalitions to defend the freedom to read and think; protest censorship through the media and to school and library boards; and raise awareness of the need to be vigilant about defending the right to read. The rights of teachers to teach and students to learn and our precious freedoms to learn, think, and speak are all at stake.
