Updated 3/29/2023 – In response to NCAC’s letter, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools claims that both books were “reviewed by their schools’ Committees before being permanently removed from those schools’ shelves.”
On 3/8/23 – The National Coalition Against Censorship has written to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina, to object to the district’s removal of the books Let’s Talk About It and Sex Plus: Learning, Loving and Enjoying Your Body from school libraries without submitting them to a review as required by district policy.
We urge the district to return the books to school shelves and submit them to the standard review process.
