Judy Blume Draws Crowds, Crowds, and Then Some!
Popular author Judy Blume drew record crowds to NCAC’s booth at New York Is Book Country, an outdoor fair held each September in New York City to commemorate Banned Books Week. She autographed her new anthology, Places I’ve Never Meant To Be: Original Stories By Censored Writers, for hundreds of fans who queued up to meet her, many presenting her with dog-eared copies of favorite Judy Blume books to sign. The collection of original stories by writers of young adult fiction also includes each writer’s comments on censorship, and an introduction by Blume, which bring an awareness of the effects of censorship not only on writers but readers of all ages. Royalties from the book benefit NCAC.
Copies of Places I’ve Never Meant To Be are still available through the National Coalition Against Censorship for $20 each (including shipping & handling).
