Update 6/6/2023 – The School Board of Newtown has unanimously voted to retain the books, and will “implement a process to support choices of individual parents and guardians to make individual choices for their children.”
6/1/2023 – The National Coalition Against Censorship has contacted the Newtown Public School District in Connecticut. NCAC highlighted concerns that arose from challenges to Mike Curato’s Flamer and Craig Thompson’s Blankets, which were discussed during the May 16th school board meeting.
In our letter to the district, NCAC expressed concerns that some board members may be acting in a manner inconsistent with both free speech law and their own regulations.
