The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) has contacted the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority to express concerns over the removal of artwork by artist Evan Apodaca from an exhibition at San Diego Regional Airport.
Apodaca’s video installation titled Monumental Interventions explores San Diego’s monuments and the role of the military as an influential part of San Diego’s development and growth as an industrial city. Though the Airport Authority claims the artwork was removed because it “did not match” the approved proposal, further review of the proposal and submitted materials suggest that the removal was due to the artwork’s critical analysis of the U.S. military.
