In Florence, Oregon, the Siuslaw School District has removed the graphic novel Flamer from the high school library despite a review committee’s recommendation to keep it. The School Board overrode the committee and voted 4-3 to remove it permanently.

The National Coalition Against Censorship wrote to the board to urge them to reconsider their decision and return the Flamer back to the library. We urge school boards to limit overturning the recommendation of a multi-stakeholder review committee, which creates suspicion that the board has acted improperly.
