Good news from Idaho: The Coeur d/Alene school board voted 5-0 to support the inclusion of Jhumpa Lahiri's novel The Namesake for a senior English class.
An ad hoc committee had voted in October to reject the teacher's request, deciding that some of the sex scenes in the book were too explicit for high school seniors. NCAC's Kids' Right to Read Project urged the board to defend the book's inclusion, so we welcome the news that they stood up for the freedom to read.
